I love this! Judge Judy schools a naïve and obviously disappointed mom who thinks dad doesn’t have any right to their child.

@sandwichears, ^^^

It’s not the only way; there are very compelling philosophical and moral arguments for the protection of the unborn as well. But the truth is some people can’t grasp the magnitude (and horror) of various atrocities without some visuals. There were people who didn’t think slavery was a big deal because they were so removed from it– they weren’t confronted with what it actually was. The same is true of the Holocaust– many people didn’t even believe it was happening/did happen. Destitution in third-world countries. Poverty on the streets in our own country. War. Some people can’t comprehend the horror unless they see it.

I really like how you mentioned there are these “very compelling philosophical and moral” arguments, yet you focused completely and totally on attempting to justify the use of gory and falsified/manipulated photos. Instead of providing even one argument as to why pregnant people should have their rights violated so the embryo/fetus can survive.

I addressed the issue on the table:

Confronting people with images of abortion/fetal development.

As far as the arguments go, let’s start here:

When does life begin? I’ve yet to hear a position that is intellectually consistent on this, apart from conception.

And you say you’re concerned with human rights. If science where to satisfactorily prove personhood of an unborn child to you, would you then acknowledge that individual’s human rights?
